Mentorship, business guidance, funding, technology and reliable infrastructure can be the difference between a promising idea and a business with real growth potential. That’s the gap John Craig is aiming to close with the launch of The Entrepreneur Edit, a national platform dedicated to supporting and recognising South Africa’s emerging entrepreneurs and the ambition driving their ventures.
The initiative rests on the conviction that entrepreneurial support must go beyond merely spotting good ideas. By opening access to mentorship, industry expertise and practical business resources, The Entrepreneur Edit aims to give emerging entrepreneurs a chance to strengthen their businesses and take meaningful steps toward their growth goals.
“The Entrepreneur Edit is a platform that tangibly demonstrates our commitment to supporting the next generation of South African entrepreneurs and addressing some of the challenges that start-up business owners face every day. Through mentorship, expertise and practical support, we want to help emerging entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses and take the next step in their journey,” said Siyanda Masina, Digital Brand Manager at John Craig.
At its core, The Entrepreneur Edit offers emerging entrepreneurs a chance to have their business journeys recognised while gaining exposure to mentorship and business development support from established South African business leaders and industry experts. The Top 10 finalists will receive an exclusive one-day mentorship session with business figures including Sheldon Tatchell, owner and founder of Legends Barbershop; Mark Sham, founder of Suits and Sneakers; and Bulelani Balabala, founder of the Township Entrepreneur Alliance.
The initiative will culminate in one winner receiving an Entrepreneur Edit Business Office Hub worth R200,000, designed to supply practical resources that can elevate an emerging business to the next level. The package includes a business office or shop setup, a cash injection, fibre internet with a 12-month subscription, two business computers, a point-of-sale system, backup power, office furniture and a John Craig clothing voucher.
The value of this support extends beyond the individual items. For a growing entrepreneur, access to a professional business space, reliable connectivity, technology, backup power and funding can address some of the everyday obstacles that stand in the way of business development.
Through The Entrepreneur Edit, John Craig is putting tangible support behind entrepreneurial ambition, recognising that building a business demands more than a good idea — it requires the resources, knowledge and confidence to turn that idea into action.
The initiative forms part of John Craig’s engagement with the next generation of South African entrepreneurs, creating a platform that places ambition, business development and personal growth at the centre of the conversation.
Entrepreneurs are invited to take part in The Entrepreneur Edit for a chance to have their business journey recognised and to receive support that could take their business to the next level. Details on how to enter, eligibility and the campaign process are available on John Craig’s social media platforms.
