Angola Cables has significantly expanded its digital infrastructure with the opening of its third cloud node in Angola, named Luanda-02. This new facility is fully integrated into the company’s regional platform, Clouds2Africa, and represents a major push to support local digital transformation and enhance regional cloud capacity.
Enhanced Infrastructure and Service Continuity
The new Luanda-02 node was built to international operational standards, offering several key technical benefits:
-
Improved Network Redundancy: Increases the reliability of the network by providing backup paths.
-
Reduced Latency: Speeds up data transfer for users accessing services, enhancing performance.
-
Enhanced Service Continuity: Provides a robust platform for organizations undergoing digital transformation.
This expansion strengthens the overall Clouds2Africa platform, positioning it as a viable regional alternative to larger global cloud providers. Luanda-02 joins two existing facilities in Angola, collectively expanding the country’s local data processing and hosting capacity.
Acelera Clouds Program: Supporting SMEs and Startups
The infrastructure expansion coincides with the launch of the Acelera Clouds program, an initiative specifically designed to accelerate cloud adoption among Angolan SMEs and startups.
This program directly addresses a major financial hurdle for new businesses, as highlighted by Ângelo Gama, CEO of Angola Cables: “One of the biggest costs for our young entrepreneurs is digital infrastructure.”
The Acelera Clouds program will tackle this by:
-
Offering Cloud Vouchers: These vouchers provide young companies with free access to essential cloud services for a limited period.
-
Providing Resources: Startups can access computing, storage, and backup resources without incurring major upfront expenses.
The primary goal is to remove technology barriers that currently slow the digitalization and growth of the local Angolan economy, enabling young entrepreneurs to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure costs.
