The energy giant Shell Nigeria has officially commenced its search for talented Nigerian students to join its prestigious Student Industrial Training and Internship Program (SIWES) for the 2026 cycle. This professional attachment is specifically curated to offer undergraduates a rare opportunity to gain immersive, hands-on experience within a global business environment. By participating in this program, students can effectively bridge the gap between their theoretical academic coursework and the practical demands of the international energy industry, working within one of the world’s most influential corporations.

    Advantages and Professional Growth Opportunities

The Shell SIWES initiative is more than just a standard internship; it is a comprehensive career-launching pad. Participants benefit from:

    • Immersive Industry Exposure: Interns are integrated into teams alongside seasoned professionals, allowing them to witness firsthand how a global energy leader operates. This environment encourages the application of classroom theories to complex, real-world technical and business challenges.

    • Holistic Skill Acquisition: Beyond technical tasks, the program emphasizes the development of vital “soft skills.” Participants undergo rigorous training in leadership, teamwork, and professional ethics. A unique highlight is the exposure to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) protocols, which are foundational to Shell’s corporate culture.

    • Strategic Professional Networking: The program allows students to build lasting relationships with industry mentors and high-achieving peers. These connections often prove to be invaluable assets when the students eventually transition into the competitive global job market.

    • Long-term Career Enhancement: Having an industrial training stint with Shell on a CV serves as a significant endorsement. It signals to future employers that the candidate has been vetted by a top-tier organization, especially in fields like engineering, geosciences, IT, and commercial business.

    Prerequisites and Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a placement within the Shell Nigeria SIWES Internship Programme, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

    1. Nationality: Must be a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

    2. Enrollment Status: Currently registered as a full-time undergraduate student at a recognized Nigerian University or Polytechnic (pursuing either a Degree or an HND).

    3. Institutional Approval: Must possess a valid, official industrial training letter or form from their school’s SIWES office.

    4. Academic Excellence: Applicants are expected to maintain high academic standards, generally characterized by a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale (or its equivalent).

    5. Field of Study: Candidates should be enrolled in disciplines such as Engineering, Geosciences, Information Technology, Environmental or Pure Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts, or Commercial and Business-related fields.

     Submission Guidelines and Application Format

The selection process is highly competitive and is typically managed on a rolling basis. Therefore, early submission is strongly encouraged. Interested students should follow these steps:

Prepare Your Documentation: Ensure your official school-signed IT letter is scanned and legible. You will also need your matriculation details and current GPA.

Compose a Professional Email: Applications must be sent to the official recruitment address: SPDC-2025SiwesRecruitment@shell.com.

Strict Subject Line Format: The email subject must follow this exact structure: “2025 Shell Nigeria SIWES Application [Your Course of Study]”.

    Required Information Checklist:

    • Legal Full Name

    • Name of University or Polytechnic

    • Matriculation/Student Identification Number

    • Department/Course of Study

    • Mandatory duration of the internship (e.g., 6 months or 1 year)

    • Full contact details (Phone number, personal email, and residential address)

    • A scanned PDF of the official IT approval letter

    • Current CGPA/GPA verification

Prospective interns should double-check all information for accuracy before hitting send, as incomplete applications or those with incorrect subject lines may be automatically filtered out.
