Farm to Feed, a Kenyan agri-tech company focused on reducing food waste and building sustainable food systems, has completed a US$1.5 million seed funding round aimed at scaling its operations and strengthening food resilience across Africa.
Launched in 2021, the startup was founded by CEO Claire Van Enk alongside co-founders Anouk Boertien and Zara Benosa. Farm to Feed’s core mission is to address post-harvest food loss by creating new market channels for surplus and imperfect fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste. The company accomplishes this through its digital B2B platform, which matches available supply from farmers with demand from businesses and institutions, while also optimizing distribution and customer experience through technology-driven logistics.
The freshly secured funding includes US$1.27 million in equity, led by Delta40 Venture Studio, with contributions from investors such as the DRK Foundation, Catalyst Fund, Holocene, Marula Square, 54Co, Levare Ventures, and Mercy Corps Ventures. In addition to the equity investments, Farm to Feed also received US$230,000 in non-dilutive funding through DEG’s DeveloPPP Ventures programme, designed to support innovative startups with high social impact.
Since its inception, Farm to Feed has demonstrated strong growth, doubling its performance year-on-year. The platform has enabled more than 6,500 farmers to monetize their excess produce, facilitated the sale of over 2.1 million kilograms of food, and prevented approximately 247 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions.
The latest round of capital will allow the startup to deepen its footprint in Kenya and begin strategic expansion into regional African markets. It will also support enhancements to its digital infrastructure and the rollout of its semi-processed product line, tailored to access higher-value markets and improve farmer income. This includes exploring opportunities for export and partnerships with global buyers.
“This investment is a pivotal moment in our journey,” said Van Enk. “We are now in a stronger position to connect even more growers with customers who value sustainable food production. Our technology remains vital to our expansion as we move beyond borders. We believe the future of food must be redesigned—rooted in local knowledge, grounded in regenerative principles, and built to deliver value to farmers, nutrition for consumers, and true climate impact.
